Booking.comMunicipal Park of Arucas
The Municipal Park of Arucas (Parque Municipal de Arucas), also known as the Floral Park or Gourié Park, is a green oasis in the heart of the city. This historic park, laid out with winding paths, offers an abundance of native and exotic trees from all continents. The park combines two garden styles: the English woodland landscape and the geometric precision of a French garden. With about 10,000 square meters of green space, the park houses about 200 species of ornamental plants and trees.
Full of details that liven up a nice walk. With sculpted trunks, a beautiful irrigation ditch, a playground, native plants… It gives a lot of peace, in a wonderful environment.

The park has a rich history that dates back to the Mayorazgo de Arucas, founded in 1572. Over the years, the park has had different owners and functions. In the 1960s and 1970s, the park underwent extensive renovations and was transformed into the botanical garden it is today. Visitors can enjoy architectural and ethnographic treasures such as the old Gourié House (museum), historic stone walls and a hydraulic network with fountains.

The municipal museum is located in the municipal park and houses the old house of the Mayorazgo de Arucas, built at the beginning of the 19th century and acquired by Mr. Alfonso Gourié Álvarez in 1859, after the dissolution of the Mayorazgo.
Therefore, from that moment on, the Casa del Mayorazgo became known as “Casa de Gourié”. It is currently owned by the municipality and houses a museum, an auditorium and a beautiful garden around it. The different rooms of the house have been transformed into exhibition spaces, where the works of Santiago Santana, Manolo Ramos, Guillemo Sureda and Abraham Cárdenes and students are permanently exhibited.

Garden of the Marquise
The Garden of the Marquise (Jardín de la Marquesa), located at the foot of Mount Arucas, is one of the most beautiful gardens in Gran Canaria. This garden, created in 1880 by the marquis Don Ramón Madán Uriondo, is a true natural paradise. The marquis, passionate about horticulture and botany, created an exotic botanical complex around his summer residence.
With an area of approximately 5 hectares, the Jardín de la Marquesa is home to around 500 different plant species. Visitors can admire rare and impressive trees, such as a 200-year-old dragon tree, a 30-metre-high royal palm, and a majestic Indian rubber tree. The garden is known for its tropical feel, thanks in part to the variety of palm trees that can be found throughout. Read more below the photos
The Jardín de la Marquesa is designed with several terraces, although most of the plants are on the ground floor.
