A day at the beach is not just about sunbathing and swimming. There are numerous food and drink options on the beach of Playa del Inglés. The beach kiosks offer refreshing drinks, ice creams and snacks.

An alternative is the busy Paseo Maritimo. This 2 km long boulevard is the place to be for tourists. Here you can get away from the beach for a while.Restaurants, pizzerias, cafes and bars spoil you at normal prices.

For the ladies there are plenty of shopping options, from souvenir shops to shops with swimwear, beach towels and beach toys. Some shops even offer the option to have a name or text printed on a T-shirt or cap, ideal as a souvenir or gift. There are also shops where you can buy sweets, food and soft drinks, and even a tattoo shop for enthusiasts.

Beach Activities in Playa del Ingles

The biggest beach activity is the walk from Playa del Inglés to Maspalomas, a 7 km trek along the Atlantic Ocean. Swimming in the sea is a real pleasure with an average summer temperature of 26°C. Beach sandals are a must due to the hot sand.

For me, swimming in the sea is a real pleasure. If the sea is calm, you can easily go ten meters into the sea. So it is very safe for children. These can play to their heart’s content in the soft white sand just by the water.

I can definitely recommend that when the sea has a choppy day, to challenge the waves. These are unforgettable moments for both you and the children. If the water is too choppy, you are not allowed to go into the water. The security services watch over this.

Safety and Signals on the Beaches

Playa del Inglés is guarded 10am and 6pm by lifeguards, the Red Cross and police. There is a high level of surveillance, especially in August. The beach is well maintained daily and there are dustbins and special containers for waste separation. Tourists are therefore asked to keep the beach tidy together.

Emergency workers ride back and forth on the beach and the boulevard by mountain bike or motorcycle. On busy days, a police helicopter is even deployed to guarantee the safety of holidaymakers. The highest level of supervision is during the month of August. However, if the crowds are higher than expected in September, it will be extended.

At Playa del Inglés, safety comes first. All beaches are equipped with extensive signaling systems to warn beach visitors of the current sea state and possible dangers. Flags in different colors indicate whether it is safe to swim:

  • Green flag: It is safe to swim.
  • Yellow flag: be careful, there may be slight dangers.
  • Red flag: Swimming is prohibited due to dangerous conditions.

In addition, some flags are used to indicate specific hazards, such as:

  • Whirlpools: warning of dangerous currents.
  • Jellyfish and Manta rays: Watch out for these sea creatures in the water.
  • Sea urchins: Caution needed in rocky areas.

These signals ensure that both tourists and locals can safely enjoy their time at the beach. By paying attention to these flags and signals, you can enjoy everything Playa del Inglés has to offer without any worries.
